The purpose of the HMIS Security Check Procedure is to ensure that computers, tablets, or any other devices used to access HMIS are secure and protect client confidentiality. For more information, please see the OC HMIS Policies & Procedures.
Requirements
Each computer, tablet, or other device used to access HMIS must:

Have a locking screensaver that locks within 5 minutes of inactivity.

Have virus protection software (exception: devices that run iOS such as iPhones and iPads).
- Have a firewall in place between the device and internet connection for the entire network (exception: devices that run iOS such as iPhones and iPads).
- Operating System
- Computers: have an operating system that is less than five (5) years old and updated to the latest available version.
- Mobile Devices: Be updated to the latest available operating system version.
- Have the most updated version of the browser used to access HMIS (HMIS supports Chrome, Firefox, and Safari).
- Be stored in a secure location, such as a locked office, when not in use.
